Jo Morton and LeMoyne Star! WOW!

Today was my first class with Jo Morton!

I arrived at class early...make that 1 1/2 hours early...was I excited? YOU BET!
Needless to say I was the first one there and I'm ready!

The class was "Hand Pieced LeMoyne Stars". Here are a few of Jo's blocks... fabulous!

We learned how to make plastic templates...

How to get our center points to match up...
And how to press the block.
And here is my first finished block... I love my fabric combination and am very pleased with how it turned out even if it took me the whole class time to make!  I'm sure my next block will be a little easier to make now that I know the technique involved.  And of course, there was much to chat about in class too! We had a great time socializing...it was like being in an old fashioned "Quilting Bee"!

Here are several of Jo's spectacular hand-pieced LeMoyne Star Quilts! Aren't they gorgeous??

What a wonderful day spent!  I feel so blessed to have had this opportunity to take a class from Jo...this will certainly go down in my memory book of great experiences!
Tonight is the Quilt Show Preview!
Life is good...

I would be just as eager as you. to bad it didn't snow when everyone got there so that you all had to stay together and just quilt

your stars are great - some times I can get mine to press in the swirly type thing in the middle and sometimes it won't seem to work.

Points which meet? Wow! I have yet to accomplish that one! Your fabric choice is great...When I went to the Festival of Quilts last August I was the second in line and I arrived two and a half hours early...

Great job on your Lemoyne star block! Jo is a wonderful teacher and so talented. Fortunately, I have gone to a quilt retreat for the last 7 years and Jo is our teacher. She is so down to earth, and we soak up as much as possible while we are together! Our next retreat is coming up in February...can't wait!!!

Nice work, Elaine! What a great class...I am so jealous. I am also inspired though. I have a Jo Morton quilt pattern and fabric here ready to cut and sew...maybe next week :-)
Keep having fun there!

Interesting reading the blog comment names, like reading the Jo Yahoo postings! Back to the LMS for the "exchange".
